About Marquetta Cheeks
Marquetta Cheeks is the owner and President of Emerald Bayou Studios. Her 35-year career spans film, television, music and theater. She is proficient in film and television production, music production, stage production, contract negotiations, budget administration, project development, promotion, marketing and publicity. Beginning her career as personal and creative assistant to Richard Pryor Marquetta worked for major companies like WARNER BROS. (film, television, music) and was part of the strategic marketing team for the INTERSCOPE FILMS feature “What Dreams May Come” (Robin Williams and Cuba Gooding, Jr). She has worked on various musicals (tribute to Smokey Robinson) and stage shows with large crews (NAACP Image Awards - Halle Berry, Denzel Washington, Jay Leno). Marquetta has executive produced two short films “Azure Circus Skies” (Christopher Neiman) with director Christina Morales (“Naked Angel”) and “The Glass Chord” starring Grammy nominee and legendary blues musician Henry Gray with director Keith L. Smith (Woman Thou Art Loosed). Her 10 year career in the record industry encompasses the promotion and A&R departments of five major record companies including, Warner Bros., Columbia, Epic, RCA, Arista. Her responsibilities included overseeing the operations of A&R and budget administration, coordinating soundtracks, developing new artists and producing artists showcases. She has worked with artists such as Quincy Jones, Madonna, Paul Simon, Prince and Whitney Houston.
